Archibald Grimke and his daughter, Angelina Weld Grimke

This photo was probably taken when Archibald was Ambassador to the Dominican Republic in the late 1890s. While he was away, Angelina lived with her uncle and aunt, Francis and Charlotte Grimke. Angelina later in life became a poet in the Haarlem Renaissance in New York, where she lived a recluse until her death in 1958.
